What to Know Before Your Waxing, Nail, or Pedicure Appointment at our studio in Portland, OR

We’re so happy you’re coming in! We want your appointment to feel easy from the moment you book. Before your visit to our Portland studio, take a moment to review what to expect when you arrive.

This page covers arrival timing, parking, and cancellation policies, along with helpful details for waxing, nail, and pedicure services so you can feel prepared for your appointment with no surprises!

Arrival

We recommend arriving 5-10 minutes before your appointment to allow time for parking, using the restroom, and getting settled before your service begins. Arriving a little early helps everything start on time and ensures you get the full, unhurried experience you booked.

If the front door is locked when you arrive, please be sure to check your appointment text from that day for the door code. Feel free to ring the doorbell if you need more assistance, or send us a text!

Late Arrivals

We’re a small, intentionally staffed studio, and most days our schedule is booked back to back. We know that life happens, and we truly want to work with you whenever we can. At the same time, to make sure every client receives the full time and care they booked, arrivals more than 5 minutes late may need to be shortened or rescheduled.

If you think you may be running late, please text us as soon as you know - 503-512-5777. We’ll always let you know what’s possible that day. We appreciate the communication, it helps us take care of everyone!

Cancellations & Rescheduling

If you need to cancel or reschedule, please do so at least 24 hours before your appointment. You can manage your booking through your confirmation text or email. Alternatively, you can call or text us (text is always best!). Please do not email us to cancel or reschedule.

We understand that life happens! These policies are never personal or in place to punish you! Swear! They help us protect our team’s time, stay on schedule, and ensure we can continue paying our staff fairly while offering the level of care we are determined to give you.

Parking

We don’t have a designated parking lot (ah, Portland parking), but there’s usually plenty of free street parking in the surrounding neighborhood.

Parking directly on Broadway is extremely limited, and there isn’t any on our block. We recommend looking for free street parking on NE 30th Ave, NE Schuyler St, or NE 32nd Ave (see map).

We’re sometimes able to coordinate access to a parking spot directly next to our entrance during very specific hours, but availability is extremely limited. We ask that this option be reserved for guests who truly need it for accessibility reasons. If this applies to you, please reach out ahead of time so we can see what’s possible.

Wax Appointments

  • For best results, hair should be at minimum ¼ inch long (roughly the length of a standard grain of white rice). If the hair is too short, the wax can’t adhere properly and we’ll wind up going through the whole wax and have a ton of stragglers. Typically you’ll need at least 3 weeks of no shaving, and 4 weeks of no waxing. Please don’t trim! There is no such thing as the hair being too long. If we absolutely need to, we can trim it before your wax.

  • Facial Waxing:
Facial skin tends to be a little more sensitive than other areas, so please avoid the following before a facial waxing appointment:

    • Retinoids & retinols (including tretinoin, adapalene, and retinol products) for at least 5-7 days

    • Exfoliating acids (AHA, BHA, glycolic, lactic, salicylic acids) for 3-5 days

    • Chemical peels, microneedling, or laser treatments within 2-4 weeks

    • Sun exposure or tanning for at least 48 hours

    • Active breakouts, open skin, or irritation in the area being waxed

If you’re using prescription skincare or have had recent facial treatments and aren’t sure what applies to you, please reach out to us before your appointment. We’re happy to chat and see if and when facial waxing is a good idea!

    Brazilian + Bikini Waxing:
To help you have the comfiest experience and best results possible, please avoid the following before your appointment:

    • Exfoliating the area the day of your appointment
Gentle exfoliation a few days prior is helpful, but exfoliating too close to your appointment can increase irritation.

    • Tanning or direct sun exposure on the area for at least 48 hours before your appointment.

    • Sex, intense workouts or strenuous activity right before your appointment
Heavy sweating and friction can increase sensitivity and bacteria in the area, which may lead to irritation.

    • Applying lotions, oils, or numbing creams the day of your appointment
Please arrive with clean, dry skin.

    • Shaving or trimming too close to your appointment. Just, please don’t.
Hair should be at least ¼ inch long for best results.

If you’re not sure if something you use or recently did might affect your service, please reach out to us ahead of time! We’re always happy to help you decide what’s best for your skin.

  • For the 24-48 hours before your wax appointment, please avoid the following on the area being waxed:

    • exfoliating

    • tanning or direct sun exposure

    • retinoids or exfoliating acids

Avoid retinoids, exfoliating acids, or active skincare on the area being waxed

  • We’ll go over simple aftercare at the end of your appointment to help reduce irritation and prevent ingrowns. Mild redness or sensitivity is normal and usually fades quickly.
